Cassie Einhorn and Im So Radical, "Rat"

Cassie Einhorn lives in Plymouth, IN and just graduated as the 2009 John Glenn High School Valedictorian. She participated in National Honor Society, Rhythm Express show choir, Varsity Volleyball, and is a 10 year 4-H member. This Fall, she will attend Purdue University majoring in Radiological Health Sciences. In May, she was awarded a 2009 American Quarter Horse Foundation Scholarship.

The past six years, she has been showing her horse Im So Radical, aka Rat. Although his previous owner didn’t think he would ever become a youth’s horse; they have really clicked. When she got Rat, he was strictly a western pleasure horse. Under the initial guidance of Brett Walters they learned so much more together. Moving out in hunter under saddle, mastering showmanship, horsemanship, equitation and trail patterns made their bond even tighter. This last year they even added western riding to the list.

Cassie and Rat have enjoyed a great deal of success in the show ring. They were the 2005 IQHA Novice Youth All Around winner. They earned more points that year than the 2nd and 3rd place winners combined! They have been four-time Congress Finalists in four different events. They qualified for Youth World three times in hunter under saddle and were NYATT team members 2 years as well. As members of the IQHA Open Show program these last six years, they have earned Versatility, All-Around, Superior, Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards. The last two years they have been Indiana State Fair Grand Champion Horsemanship winners. In addition, they have won many high point saddles and belt buckles.

With all their success, many people automatically assumed that Rat has ‘lived’ at a training barn and are surprised when they learn otherwise. Early on, he had a couple of monthly ‘vacations’ with Brett, but once show season started he was back home. They went for some advanced lessons for big events like Congress. Spending so much time together created a special bond. Cassie’s said its almost as if Rat chose her instead of the other way around. He just seems to give his all every time she asks for more. After every off-season filled with trail riding and R&R, he starts the next year even better. She feels very lucky to have had such a once-in-a-lifetime horse for her youth years and looks forward to continuing her amateur career with Rat.
