Lorna’s Lines
May/June 2006 Issue

You know it’s spring when: 1) the woolly mammoths in the barn are beginning to resemble horses again; 2) the birds are singing before 6:00 a.m. (no matter WHAT time zone you live in); 3) the foals are hitting the ground running, and) you’re wearing waders to get in and out of your barnyard. Thank goodness winter is but a distant memory!

With the horse season upon us, it’s time to get those manes shortened, the shoes slapped back on, and the saddle pads wet again. It’s also time to renew your membership in IQHA and AQHA if you haven’t already done so. I can’t say enough how much we appreciate our members renewing their memberships BEFORE they get to the show. This simple act is a win/win situation for everyone involved.

I have one more plea--if you show and you don’t see your name in the points standing lists in the Journal, or on the web site, please contact your secretary (me) and let me know BEFORE the September Futurity. This way, the situation can be addressed and a resolution can happen before the year-end awards are established. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

I think that’s about it. Don’t forget our Youth Show kicks off the beginning of the IQHA show season. Watch your Journals and the web site for show bill updates and the calendar of events. Also, it’s not too early to get your reservations in for our annual trail ride. Until next time, keep your heels down, your toes up, and your eyes straight ahead!
